Valentina Tu, aka, prettyperkyparakeet, is a self-taught artist from Taiwan, whose illustration journey began not in childhood but during her quarter-life crisis when she questioned the meaning of life, the universe and everything.

Armed with her prior knowledge in screenwriting, her visual storytelling is often driven by an active character that seeks solutions in unexpected places. Her work is packed with vibrant, bold colors, and she likes to work with themes that suggest a sense of magic and mystery.

Gouache and colored pencils are her go-to traditional mediums. As for digital tools, she uses Adobe Photoshop daily and is well versed in Adobe Illustrator and InDesign.

When she’s not planning her next illustration, you will find her in the kitchen whipping up egg whites and measuring out flour while struggling to reason with her very talkative cat why he can’t eat cake. She currently lives in the Netherlands with her husband, her cat and her baby.
